Wikipedia’s war on Maltagenealogy.com (Part 2)
|
We told you that we Wikipedia didn’t like us. See http://www.saidvassallo.com/SME/maltesenobility/wikipediawar.html
We were wrong. Wikipedia doesn’t like the Maltese.
The latest news (19 February 2010) is that a Wikipedia Editor by the name of RGTraynor has claimed responsibility for “taking charge” of anything to do with the Maltese Nobility. Writing on the 19th February Traynor admits that he has “quite a bit of background on it (the subject of Maltese Nobility), having had a hand in on these articles for a couple of years now.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Maltese_nobility
According to his User Page, Traynor describes himself as a fifty-something paralegal living in the Boston area whose Wikiactivity centers around hockey. But he also claims to be a longtime statistician and sometime member of SIHR, hockey journalist and sportscaster. His last claim is that he’s also interested in everything from military history to politics to roleplaying games. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:RGTraynor
In his bigoted opinion on the Maltese Nobility, he says:
“Well, if we were to speculate, one could infer that the whole reason a Royal Commission was appointed in the first place to sort out Maltese titles was because a whole whopping lot of people demanded recognition of this title and that purportedly granted to some ancestor or another by the crowned head of some ephemeral state or another. It'd also be interesting to know why the British bothered at all, instead of dismissing the whole business as gimcrackery from a tiny island with a contemporaneous population similar to Southwark, which would have been consistent behavior from them. Of course, speculation is beyond our scope, and we can only report on the sourced facts.”
We kept a snapshot just in case the exchange gets “twinkled” and put it in a green frame for easy referencing. The link is here http://www.maltagenealogy.com/disclaimers/wikipedia.htm
When someone challenged RGTraynor to withdraw this insult, he just went along to report the challenger for something unrelated.
We end this bit of news with an apt observation by the challenger:
“This is a grievance, and must be difficult for you (RGTraynor). Hopefully you'll rectify the situation before it causes you greater damage in the "real world" - and since this article is such a shoddy work to begin with, I think most interested readers will be convinced of the need for a real look at books on the subject, and not be content with this page (if you've spent over a year on it and this is all you've achieved, I'll assume you've been very busy elsewhere).”
