MARQUIS ELLUL-BONICI-BUGEJA

ELLUL-BONICI. Reno Marquis Bugeja passed peacefully away on December 26, at the age of 81.
He leaves to mourn his loss his five children Walter and his wife Christine, Emma De Lucca, Mariella, Paul and his wife Lynda and Valerie, his grandchildren Jean-Paul, Salvino, Marco, Amanda, Victor, Stephen and Fiona, his sisters Carmelina and Maria, his sister-in-law Jane, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital tomorrow, Wednesday, at 8.30 a.m. for St Theresa church, Birkirkara where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.15 a.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery

COUNT EDWARD ST GEORGE “sives Zimmerman Barbaro dei Marchesi di San Giorgio”

St GEORGE. On December 20, in Houston, Texas, USA, EDWARD, aged 76, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Lady Henrietta, his children Sarah, Caroline, Laura, Henry and Kate, his grandchildren Alex, Anthony, Annabel and Henry, his aunt the Dowager Baroness de Piro and many relatives and friends in Malta. - R.I.P.
The funeral will take place on the island of Grand Bahama on December 29. A memorial service in London will be announced at a later date.

 

ANNOUCEMENT OF INVESTITURE   

THE MARQUIS OF ST GEORGE

The Royal Palace of St James in the heart of London was the scene of the solemn investiture of the Marquis of St George, Dr Antony Cremona-Barbaro, as Knight of the Most Venerable Order of St John, to which rank he was promoted by Queen Elizabeth II, Sovereign Head of the Order.

The ceremony was conducted, on behalf of the Queen, by the Grand Prior the Duke of Gloucester with the customary three strokes of the sword on the left shoulder of the kneeling knight. The ceremony, which is held once every four years, was this year enhanced by the presence, among the recipients of honours, of former South African President Nelson Mandela.

At the reception which followed in the Queen Anne Room, the Duke spent some time conversing with some of the guests, among whom the Marquis himself, who has served the Order as honorary secretary of the Malta St John Council for 20 years.

The Marquis was also recently appointed Cavaliere dell'Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana by the President of Italy motu proprio.

She leaves to mourn her great loss her beloved family, her husband Mark, her daughters Nicola and her husband Paul Busuttil, and Katryna, her grandchildren Justin and Sophie, her parents Maria and Henry, her brother Anthony and his wife Juliette, her niece Francesca, her nephews Michael and Nicholas, her mother-in-law Lilian, her uncles and aunts Rene and James, Vicky, Rose, Lena and Margaret and her other relatives and many friends. The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 8 a.m. for Mater Boni Consigli church, Paceville, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Millennium Chapel will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Tabone, and PATRICIA, daughter of Mr and Mrs James Micallef Eynaud. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by Fr Alfred Sacco at the Metropolitan Cathedral, Mdina. The ceremony was witnessed by Mrs Anne-Marie Darmanin and Mr David G. Davies. Mr Francis Galea Salamone and Mr Darryn Portelli acted as best men. Mr Michael Zammit, Mr John Xerri de Caro, Mr Paul Darmanin, Mr Peter Bonnici, Mr Roberto Calleja, Master James Spiteri Staines and Master Michael Spiteri Staines acted as ushers. The bride was attended by Miss Philippa Farrugia Randon and Miss Ann Tabone. Miss Julia Darmanin was flower-girl. A reception was later held at Palazzo Parisio, Naxxar.

She also leaves to mourn her sad loss her son-in-law Peter de Bono and daughter-in-law Lorie, her brother Frederick Amato-Gauci, her sisters-in-law Josephine and Jesureau, Doris and Inez, her three grandchildren Nicky de Bono and her husband Mark Holt, Michael de Bono and his wife Claire, and Justin Scicluna and his wife Wendy, her great-grandchildren Felix, Mathilda, Isabel and India, her nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends.

She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss her son Josef, her sisters Rosalie and Marie Mifsud, Carmen and Waddy Cassar Olivier, Marica and Roger de Giorgio, her brother Dr Alfons Micallef, her step children, Clarissa, Anne Cole, Joan Vella Muskat and Michael, nephews and nieces, their respective spouses, relatives and her many friends.
A Mass praesente cadavere will be said at St Gregory's parish church, Sliema, tomorrow, Tuesday, September 28, at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord grant her eternal rest.

Mass praesente cadavere was said at Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, St Venera, and the family funeral took place on September 10. The family would like to thank all those who showed sympathy and attended the funeral Mass.

The marriage took place on September 3, in the Chapel of Hearts aboard The Star Princess between JOHN, son of the late Josie Attard Montalto, Baron of San Paolino and the late Miriam née Despott, and ROSE, daughter of Joseph Farrugia and Margaret née Borg. The bridesmaid was Rebecca Attard Montalto.

On August 11, ANGIE, aged 56, passed peacefully away at home surrounded by her loving family. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Barty, her children Shara and her husband Andrew Quartermaine, Ben and his fiancée Lisa Urpani, her mother Diana, her sisters Gilly and Tessa and their families, and all her beloved friends. - R.I.P.

On August 6, PAUL, widower of Violet née Naudi, (ex-Lyceum mathematics master, sports master and group scoutmaster), a much beloved and cherished father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed peacefully away, aged 95, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children, Major Ronald Abela and his wife Miriam, Edward and his wife Christine, John and his wife Josette, Lt Colonel Herbert Abela and his wife Bernadette, and Squadron Leader Peter Abela and his wife Irene. He also leaves to mourn his loss his sister Inez Caruana, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other members of the family, his many friends and his ex-students.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital tomorrow at 9.30 a.m. for the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery chapel (entrance from back gate), where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 10 a.m., followed by interment. No flowers by request but donations to the Eden Foundation, Bulebel, would be appreciated. The family are grateful for the dedicated care received from the staff at Casa Antonia, Balzan. The Noble Martin Testaferrata Moroni Viani, LL.D., and The Noble Stephanie Apap Bologna Sceberras D'amico Inguanez, B.Sc. (Hons.) (Lond.)

The marriage took place on Saturday, June 19, at St Paul's Cathedral, Mdina, between MARTIN, son of Baron and Baroness Testaferrata Moroni Viani, and STEPHANIE, daughter of Baron and Baroness Apap Bologna Sceberras D'Amico Inguanez. His Grace the Archbishop, Mgr Joseph Mercieca, concelebrated nuptial Mass with Mgr Alfred Xuereb, archpriest of St Paul's Cathedral, and other co-celebrants. The ceremony was witnessed by the bride's uncle, Nicholas Cassar Torreggiani, and the groom's cousin, the Noble Caroline Zammit Testaferrata Moroni Viani. A reception was later held at Vilhena Palace and Xara Palace, Mdina.

The Noble Stephanie daughter of Baron Carmel Apap Bologna Sceberras D’Amico Inguanez and Baroness Ann Apap Bologna Sceberras D’Amico Inguanez was married to the Noble Martin Testaferrata Moroni Viani, son of Baron Salvino and Baroness Monica Testaferrata Maroni Viani at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Mdina on 19 June at 11.30am.


The bride together with her father arrived at the Cathedral, from her home in Mdina, in a horsedrawn carriage.

His Grace the Archbishop of Malta, Mgr Joseph Mercieca, together with 12 celebrants officiated at a beautiful and moving ceremony.

The bride wore a Mikado silk dress from Spain and a coronet to which her veil was attached.

The bestman was the Noble Baroncino Christopher Testaferrata Moroni Viani. The witnesses were Mr Nicholas Cassar Torregiani and the Noble Caroline Zammit Testaferrata Moroni Viani. The bridesmaids were Miss Helen Cassar Torregiani, The Noble Fabrizia Preziosi, The Noble Petra Testaferrata Moroni Viani and Miss Alexandra dei Conti Sant Manduca.

Miss Julia Zammit and Miss Emma Attard Montalto were flowergirls.

The Noble Stephen Testaferrata Moroni Viani was ringbearer and Master Austin Apap Bologna acted as page boy.

The ushers were the Noble Baroncino Francesco Apap Bologna Sceberras D’Amico Inguanez, the Noble James Apap Bologna Sceberras D’Amico Inguanez, Mr John Attard Montalto, Mr Mark Attard Montalto, Mr Jeremy Cassar Torregiani, Mr Sebastian Knoche, Mr Jasper de Trafford, Mr Mark Gialanzè and Mr Patrick Galea Naudi.

The Readers were the Noble Baroncino Francesco Apap Bologna Sceberras D’Amico Inguanez, Dr Max Ganado and Mr Richard Knoche.

Some one thousand two hundred guests joined the wedding party at a reception in the elegant surroundings of Xara Palace Hotel and the Courtyard of Vilhena Palace, Mdina. The flowers were left in the artistic hands of Mrs Theresa Sullivan while the catering was taken care of by the Xara Palace Hotel and th drinks were supplied by Stephen Rausi Ltd.

The bride and groom then left for their honeymoon which they spent in Egypt and Jordan.

FORMOSA GAUCI - The Most Noble Fr VICTOR FORMOSA GAUCI, SJ, LL.D., Marquis of Ghajn Qajjed and Count of Santa Sofia, on July 7, at Zammit Clapp Hospital, St Julian's, aged 89, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Mother Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brethren of the Society of Jesus, his sister-in-law Elise, his nieces and nephews Clarissa, Ann, wife of Richard Cole, Joan, wife of John Vella Muscat, Michael and Josef, and his great-nephews and nieces Sally-Ann, Mark, Matthew, Jane, Rebecca and Nicholas, as well as his cousin Agatha Formosa Gauci, other relatives, friends and many former pupils of St Aloysius' College, Birkirkara. Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated tomorrow at 4.30 p.m. at Naxxar parish church, followed by interment at Naxxar cemetery. May he rest in the peace of the Lord.

Dr CONRAD CASSAR TORREGGIANI and Dr PATRICIA MALLIA., The marriage took place on Saturday, June 12, at the church of Our Lady of the Grotto, Rabat, between CONRAD, son of Mr and Mrs Mark Cassar Torreggiani of Ta' Xbiex, and PATRICIA, daughter of Professor and Mrs Carmel Mallia of Balzan. Fr Joseph Orr, SJ, the bride's great-uncle, assisted by Fr Stefan Attard, celebrated nuptial Mass. Mrs Angela Cuschieri, the bride's aunt, and Miss Frances Cassar Torreggiani, the groom's cousin, were witnesses. The bride was attended by her cousins, Miss Lisa Cuschieri and Miss Petra Mallia, and by the groom's cousin, Miss Johanna Cassar Torreggiani. Miss Leanne Sciortino was flower-girl and Master Nicholas Mallia was pageboy. The duties of best man were carried out by Dr Andrew Zammit. Mr Frank Mallia, Mr Albert Bonello Ghio, Mr Iain Galea, Dr Christian Grima and Mr Matthew Mirabelli acted as ushers. A reception was held at Villa Arrigo, San Pawl tat-Targa.
