Mons Dr. Don Filippo Amato (born 1804) Vicar-General. He was nominated to be
Bishop of Malta, but the nomination was not approved by the British as Don
Filippo did not allow the Cathedral of St. Johns to become an Anglican Cathedral
and threatened the Governor to have all church & chapel bells rung as a sign to
the faithful to rise up and make their way to Valletta, should the Anglicans
make an attempt to take it over (brother of Dr. Salvatore Patrizio Amato).
