The Noble Family of Castelletta (a.k.a Casteletti), described as a noble family from Palermo of Catalonian origins, first residing in Gozo and later in Malta where it intermarried with the Nava family.
This family is listed as a noble family in “Descrittione di Malta” (1647).
Moreover this family was later to be granted the titles of Barone della Marsa on two occasions (1725, 1753). One of the cognate members of this family was later to be granted the same title of Barone della Marsa (1775). All of these titles had become extinct but in 1878 the 1753 and 1775 titles were unsuccessfully claimed by the Barone Alessandro Sceberras D’Amico Inguanez and the Marchesa Maria Francesca Apap, nee Sceberras Bologna. Another cognate descendant was to be granted by rescript the title of Conte di Ghajn Tuffieha (1792).

3.3.2.2.2.2.1.4.1.2.4. Maria Sceberras Bologna ,CLAIMANT TO THE BARONY OF MARSA (In 1878 the Marchesa Maria Francesca Apap made a claim to this title, claiming this title as the only surviving daughter of the testamentary heir (Paolo Sceberras) of the said Barone Dorell. But the 1878 Commissioners held that Dorell being destitute of any issue, did not, and could not, transmit to Paolo Sceberras, as a collateral, the title of Barone della Marsa, granted only to the male issue of Dorell, by the death of whom it became extinct. Consequently, Paolo Sceberras could not convey that title to the claimant, who, moreover, being a female, would not be comprised in the grant, even if she descended from the said Dorell. The 1878 Commissioners therefore formed the opinion that the Marchesa Maria Francesca Apap failed to establish her right to the title, also indicating that the formula tuisque descentibus masculis tribuimus concedimus et donamus excluded a female from succeeding a title granted in such terms. (See:- Correspondence and Report of the Commission appointed to enquire into the claims and grievances of the Maltese Nobility, May 1878, presented to both Houses of Parliament by Command of Her Majesty (C.-2033.)
