“Questa famiglia, ch’oggi si ritrova in Trapani, efu’ gia di lei in Palermo un Pino d’Amodeo nominato dal Pirro tra’ gl’ altri nobili Palermitani nel 1392 leggiamo ch’anticamente habitasse nel Castello di quest’ Isola, poiche’ a’ Nicolo dAmodeo del medesimo luogho, & a suoi eredi fudonatodal Re’ Federico Terzo il territorio di Petra lunga posto in Malta sotto annua ricognizione, come per suo privilegio spedito l’anno 1371 apparisce. Dovette poscia quivi estinguersi la famiglia, mentre nel 1513 si cava da una scrittura mandatai da Palermo, che detto feudo sia stato posseduto da Francesco Grugno; hoggi pero’ doppo essere stato riunito alla Secretia di questo Principato si trova concesso ad annuo censo enfiteutico.” (From Abela’s “Della Descrittione di Malta del Commendatore Abela” (1647))

 

This family was resident in Malta, but later repatriated in Trapani and Palermo. It was still regarded as a Maltese family in 1420.

By 1513, the fief of Pietra Longa had come to be possessed by Francesco Grugno. By 1647, that property had been granted in emphyteusis (Abela, page 452)
