The Noble Family of Navarra, extinct in Malta but the surname and arms continued to be borne by a line of its cognate descendants being that of Cumbo-Navarra.

This family is listed as a noble family in “Descrittione di Malta” (1647).

 “In Malta, passo’ questa famiglia dal Gozo, ove ritroviamo farsi memoria d’Ugolino Navarra Giurato nel 1428, e poscia del nobile Andrea parimente Giurato nel 1445. Fu’ questo ammogliato con Donna Paola, che non sappiamo di che casa si fusse: dal matrimonio loro nacquero Federico, & Ugolino & una femmina D. Imperia, che si marito con Gio Castelletta nobile Palermitano, il primo, che porto’ la sua schiatta in questo dominio. Ugolino Navarra fu’ padre di Paolo, che doppo haver esercitato l’officio di Giurato nel 1532, & 1537 passo in Malta, ove consegui pure la Giuratia nel 1548. Di lui furono figgli Ugolino, e due femmine Marietta, e Paola. Questo terzo Ugolino vien eletto Giurato nel 1577, & 1585, e finalmente Capitano della Verga nel 1587, 1588 & 1589 procreo’ egli un figliuolo, ch’ hebbe nome similmente Paolo, ultimo di questa casa, nel quale (essendo ancora giovanotto) s’estinse, & una femmina nominata Cornelia, che data per moglie al Dottor Giovanni Cumbo tra’ gl’ altri figliuoli, ne divenen Cumbo Navarra, che fece germogliare di nuovo la successione un un altro ramo Ugolino unico di lui figliuolo; ripigliando con l’arme (ch’ e’ uno scudo traversato da quattro bande d’oro, in campo azzurro, con tre stele d’argento, una in chiascheduno spatio de I tre di mezzo traposti,) anco il ravvivato cognome di Navarra.” (From Abela’s “Della Descrittione di Malta del Commendatore Abela” (1647))
