28th June 2009: Major UPDATE regarding the Origins of SULTANA with the discovery of surname conflict discovered by Godfrey Sultana, and further research discovery has found that majority of descendants in the Male line are of the Saguna line. Though Sultana name carried through due to a legacy from a grandfather which carried the name and lands given by the Grand Master of Malta to survive in the 16th century.

1. SOLIMANO BIN MUSA, from Turkey (1507-59) A slave of several Grand Masters from Rhodes Island and in Malta under Grand Master de Homedes with great diligence was freed 1539 with a condition that he had to serve another six years. Upon release, the Grand Master had granted him some lands in Xaghra, Gozo for services rendered., married 1540 to Mustafa, an ex-slave from Turkey. Both become Christians upon Baptism. Solimano is a younger son of a Amir or Bey (Chief or Lord of a Chieftain/Clan) in Karaman, Turkey
