The Fief and Barony of Bavuso was granted by King Frederick II of Sicily on his
crowning in Sicily. The Vassallos were of Prince Royals descendants of the
Ancient Kings of Lombardy .
The title was granted to male heirs of Vassallo de Vassallo. This branch is
considered as the Siciian/Maltese Branch of the Vassallo family as there are
relatives in Milian, Italy where this branch originally come from.

branch in Milian, where it connects to the Maltese Branch after 400 years. The
Vassallo-Paleologo family were Counts of the Byzantine Empire, where their
ancestor went to the Crusades and settled in the Byzantine Empire till the fall
of Constinople in the late 15th century, where they migrated to Sicily with all
their hereditary honours.
