Barons di Barberi, 1375, Barons di Majnuni 1398.
 
“Nel 1416 habbiamo un Michele di Bernardo, che intervenen con altri nostri Cittadini ad un consiglio dell’ Universita’; egli fu’ Giurato nel 1435 com’ e’ stato anche Bartolo, o’ Bartolomeo similmente uno de’ Giurati el 1475 nominato in un transonto del privilegio d’aggregatione dell’isola fatta dal Re’ Alfonso, come appare negli’ atti di Notaro Paolo Bonello; di lui, o’ d’altro Bartolomeo leggiamo essere stato fondatore del Iuspadronato de’ Bernardi, ne gl’ atti di Giacomo Bondi’ nel 1520 cioe’ che Michel, e Federico Falsone fratelli, e Giovanni Calava’ loro consobrino, come eredi delel loro madri, figliuole, del nobile Bartolomeo di Bernardo fondatore, allora defonto, faccessero la nominatione del Beneficiato. Presso Zurita ritroviamo la detta famiglia in Saragoza d’Aragona, intorno al 1287 e nella regia Cancellaria di Palermo, si ravvisa Petrus Bernardi Pirata Catalanus, costui con galee, o’ altri legni depredava I Venetiani nel 1365. ” (From Abela’s “Della Descrittione di Malta del Commendatore Abela” (1647))
